St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Cohasset, Massachusetts installed a carillon of 35 bells from the Gillett & Johnston Bell Foundry in Croydon, England, making it the largest carillon in the country.  The carillon was dedicated on September 23, 1924 with a recital by Kamiel Lefevere and a lecture given by William G. Rice

The original carillon was a gift from Mrs. James W. Bancroft in memory of her mother, Mrs. Jessie M. Barron and was known as the Bancroft Memorial Carillon or the Jesse M. Barron Memorial Carillon.  It is now simply known as the Cohasset Carillon.

The carillon was enlarged with 20 new bells from Gillett & Johnston in 1925, with another 8 from the same firm added in 1928.   The instrument was further enlarged in 1990 with 41 bells from the John Taylor Bell Foundry, in Loughborough, England.   The carillon currently has 57 bells, see the carillon inventories above for more details.
