The Vatican Pavilion at the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair included a 35-bell Petit and Fritsen carillon, which was bought by Bessie Goodman after the fair's conclusion and given to Wilmington College in memory of her husband, Wilmington businessman Simon Goodman. The College built the 60-foot tower that houses the bells, which were dedicated on September 18, 1960 with a concert by Wendell Westcott.
