Bernard H. Smith gave a 10-bell Meneely (Troy) chime in memory of his classmate, Dr. Warren Elmer Hinds, who died on January 11, 1936.. The chime was dedicated on May 1, 1935 by Chester Meneely.

A gift from the estate of Henry Vincent Couper ’37 made the enlargement of the chime into a carillon possible.  The 10 Meneely bells were sent to the Eijsboust foundry to be refurbished (recast?) in 1998 and were reinstalled in 1999 along with two new bells.

The Couper gift and other alumni contributions provided for thirty additional Eijsbouts bells that were installed in 2004 and the instrument was renamed the Henry Vincent Couper Memorial Carillon.  The carillon was dedicated during the alumni reunion on on June 5, 2004 by George Matthew, carillonneur of Middlebury College.

In 2013, an electro-pneumatic auto-play system was installed by the Royal Eijsbouts Bell Foundry.
