Mrs. Charles S. Hill, a trustee of the college, donated a 30-bell van Vergen carillon that was installed in a campanile at the Whatley Chapel at the Colorado Women's College and dedicated on October 21, 1961 by Daniel Robins. The carillon was a memorial to her late husband, who was in the oil and gas business.
The college property has passed through several hands in recent years and the Whatley Chapel was recently purchased by the Denver Public Schools as part of its School of the Arts expansion.
