Robert H. Schuller opened his Crystal Cathedral in 1980. The Crean Tower opened in 1990 and included a 52-bell Eijsbouts carillon that was named after his wife, Arvella Schuller.
The carillon was dedicated on September 16, 1990 with a recital given by James R. Lawson.
The church went bankrupt
in 2010 and was bought by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange County,
which remodeled the building and renamed it Christ Cathedral. It was
rededicated in 2019.
